Lecture by Vyta Kovalenko – Truth Under Fire

25 mei 2026

Stichting Kunst en Cultuur Aalsmeer and curator Mariana Dzhulai invite you to a special lecture with Vyta Kovalenko – Ukrainian-Dutch politician, speaker, and author of the book Truth Under Fire (Waarheid onder vuur). Vyta Kovalenko is an expert on Ukraine, Russian propaganda, and disinformation. Since 2014, she has been a strong advocate for Ukraine in the Dutch media. Vyta has a professional background in marketing, branding, and communication and serves as a municipal councilor in Dordrecht. The Cultural Attaché of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Netherlands, Mariia-Katalina Rohovey, will also attend the evening. The event takes place against the backdrop of the impressive exhibition State of Temporality – Living in Temporality by Mariana Dzhulai.

As attendees from the Ukrainian community are also expected, the language of the evening will be English. Seating is limited, so please purchase your tickets in advance through the KCA Ticketshop.

About the book Truth Under Fire
Truth Under Fire explores propaganda, disinformation, and the impact of information warfare on democracy and society. In her book, Kovalenko intertwines her personal story with the history of Ukraine. She examines how modern propaganda functions, how narratives are used as weapons, and why truth becomes particularly vulnerable during times of war. The lecture will offer ample opportunity for audience questions and discussion. Copies of her book will be available for purchase that evening, and Vyta will be happy to sign them during the networking reception.

Do not miss this special opportunity to meet Vyta Kovalenko in person, with the remarkable exhibition State of Temporality at KCA in Het Oude Raadhuis as the setting.

About Mariana Dzhulai
